DataShare: New platform, service supports public access to research data
DataShare, a data repository for sharing, publishing and archiving research data created by Iowa State University scholars and researchers, completed beta testing last fall. This resource is the result of a two-year partnership between the Office of the Vice President for Research, University Library and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
DataShare provides Iowa State researchers and scholars a way to publicly share research data that meets data-sharing requirements specified by government and private research sponsors. Before data sets are published on DataShare, they go through a review process to make sure the data is suitable and appropriate for sharing. Once published, data sets are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), making them visible in search engines like Google.
