Open Education at Iowa State University
Thanks to continued support from the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, the University Library has begun offering support for the creation and use of open educational resources (OER) on campus.
Apart from the support services highlighted on our landing page, the University Library is also involved in major campus-wide open education initiatives.
Miller Open Education Mini-Grants
The University Library, in partnership with the Open & Affordable Education Committee and the Senior Vice President & Provost, offers funding opportunities for instructors who are interested in adopting or developing new OER.
To learn more about the mini-grants, visit the Iowa State University OER website.
Publishing OER in Pressbooks
Faculty and staff who are interested in creating a new open textbook or lab book can use the ISU Digital Press' book publishing platform, Pressbooks, at no cost.
Contact Harrison W. Inefuku for more information about publishing your OER in Pressbooks.
Open & Affordable Education Committee
The ISU Open & Affordable Education Committee is a cross-campus committee involved in developing, promoting, and supporting the use of affordable course materials at Iowa State. This includes:
- Open educational resources (OER)
- Immediate Access resources,
- Course Reserves,
- and more!
The University Library has been a proud partner of the OAEC since its creation in 2017.
